Week 9: Food

This week, for the Photo Challenge, Faith and I decided to make an entirely Paleo, or Whole30 meal. Faith made Rosemary Chicken and a Cucumber Tomato Salad, and I made Garlicky Sweet Potato Mash. There were also some Kale Chips involved. Yum.

The other night while we were driving, the sun set and it was glorious. Well- pretty enough to stir up some sort of poetry in my mind.

Blue skies dissolve into orange,

jet streams fall like sun rays 

across the world, and evening fog 

begins to rise against distant hills. 

The sun has almost sunk away,

ceding to the evening star 

in the north, calling the geese too early;

And the wind tickles the dead grass.

The radio drums “Running South,”

the road is dark, lit only

by the reflectors and yellow headlights;

and a cloud wings across the sky.

Earthly beauty fades black,

gloaming glory dims and darkens,

evening ebbs, and the shadows

make a tenuous grasp at the hilltops.
