God Moves in a Mysterious Way
We sang this song at Good Sam tonight and my heart was blessed.
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never-failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs,
And works His sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take,
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.
Blind unbelief is sure to err,
And scan his work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.
-William Cowper

Behold I Come
Holy week is almost over and I have only two more days of Christ and Easter related poems. Here is today's (barely before the end of the day). So here is a short little work by Annie Johnson Flint.
Behold I come, by Annie Johnson Flint
"Behold, I come" -- the darkness lightens
above all sorrow and all fear;
Beyond the clouds the Daystar brightens,
and our deliverance is near;
The groaning earth awaits the hour
when all the wrongs of time are past,
and clothed with power and with glory,
the Kings of kings will reign at last.

Low in the Grave He Lay
The lyrics are a little different than the song I remember us singing every Easter Sunday growing up, but it's still a great song.
LOW IN THE GRAVE HE LAY
Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior;
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
Death cannot keep its Prey, Jesus my Savior;
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

All Glory Laud and Honor
ALL GLORY LAUD AND HONOR(by Theodulf of Orleans)Thou art the King of Israel,
Thou David’s royal Son,
Who in the Lord’s Name comest,
The King and Blessèd One.
Refrain: All glory, laud and honor,To Thee, Redeemer, King,
To Whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring.
The company of angels
Are praising Thee on High,
And mortal men and all things
Created make reply.
Refrain:All glory, laud and honor,To Thee, Redeemer, King,
To Whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring.
The people of the Hebrews
With palms before Thee went;
Our prayer and praise and anthems
Before Thee we present.
Refrain:All glory, laud and honor,To Thee, Redeemer, King,
To Whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring.
To Thee, before Thy passion,
They sang their hymns of praise;
To Thee, now high exalted,
Our melody we raise.
Refrain:All glory, laud and honor,To Thee, Redeemer, King,
To Whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring.
Thou didst accept their praises;
Accept the prayers we bring,
Who in all good delightest,
Thou good and gracious King.
Refrain: All glory, laud and honor,To Thee, Redeemer, King,
To Whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring.
Holy week
I love Palm Sunday and the story of Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. This morning Pastor Wilson preached on Palm Sunday, but it was more about how God is two-handed. In other words- when God does things with His right hand, they are the things we expect Him to do. The obvious blessings in our lives. But when He does things with His left hand, they are the things that seem wrong to us. Like Christ entering Jerusalem on the back of a donkey's colt and with palm branches strewn across the ground in front of Him, only to be killed days later. Or when God directs the world in such a way that a tsunami brushes across the land and death is going hand-in-hand with it. God's left-handed actions are the ones that seem all backwards to us, but are within His plan and still come out good in the end. So, today we celebrate one of the most well-known left-handed days.
This coming week is Holy Week (well, technically it started today) and I've tried to decide what to do on my blog special for these next seven days. And my plan? Well, my plan is to post the lyrics to an Easter-related song every day or an Easter poem. That shouldn't be too hard to do. I hope. I am really good at forgetting about this blog, though, so hopefully the whole thing doesn't flop like a seven-year-old's belly the first time he tries to dive into the water.
Blessings on your week.
